The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the rate of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
