The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance.
